As a Utility Worker at PEG, you’ll play an important supporting role across multiple areas of production, helping ensure smooth operations throughout the facility. This position requires reliability, flexibility, and a strong attention to detail. Your dependability and teamwork will directly contribute to PEG’s reputation for delivering high-quality, custom glass and quartz components to customers worldwide.
As a utility operator you will perform production duties as assigned while interpreting and following specifications for each product per the related job package, drawing and/or prints, PEG’s QCIP’s, and/or the customer’s criteria.
This position reports directly to the department unit leader and indirectly to the production manager.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform duties as assigned
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures required to complete the job
- Employ all gauging equipment throughout the manufacturing process to ensure the accuracy of parts per print
- Identify visual defects per PEG’s QCIP’s based upon CTQ (Critical to Quality) criteria
- Read, interpret, and employ part drawings and/or prints
- Fill out work related travelers, charts, and identification cards
- Accurately scan in and out of jobs utilizing the job package and Visual Manufacturing
- Input accurate production data in Visual Manufacturing
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned to ensure quality of parts and workflow
- Familiar with company policies
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to perform the duties of the job
- Ability to read, interpret, and employ work order travelers and prints
- Ability to read, interpret, and employ all measuring devices related to the operation (micrometers, calipers, tape measure, ruler, dial indicator, etc.….)
- Possess computer skills necessary to operate manufacturing software
- Possess mathematical skills (counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Possess problem-solving ability, active listening, critical thinking and decision making abilities
- Ability to interpret and follow specifications for each product being made in accordance with the appropriate job package
- Ability to keep close attention to detail
Experience Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing environment helpful
- Experience with quality assurance helpful
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and hear. The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, push/ pull, handle objects (manual dexterity), and reach above shoulder level. The employee must carry/ lift loads up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to excessive noise, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and humidity, dust, fumes, gases, and open flames.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flex scheduling is available upon request but must fit the needs of the company.

In-Person Interview
If selected to move forward, you’ll be invited onsite to:
- Tour portions of our facility (when applicable)
- Meet team members
- You will be introduced to the position and may be asked to process or review certain sample parts to give you a realistic idea of the job and the type of work performed at PEG. Please note: This is not production work and you will not be performing billable or customer work. The purpose is simply to give you hands-on exposure to the type of tasks involved and to help both you and PEG determine if the role is a good fit.
You will also complete a short aptitude assessment that includes:
- Reading comprehension
- Basic math (addition and subtraction)
- Basic print reading
- Measuring with calipers
Don’t worry if you do not have experience with print reading or measurement tools. This will not disqualify you from employment. We are happy to train the right candidate. We are looking for attitude, reliability, and ability to learn.
